Housing Case Management Services

School House Commons provides safe and secure housing for low-income seniors.

The YWCA has been providing support to the community in the area of housing for over 150 years. Throughout Western New York, we have been able to meet the needs of women, children and seniors. School House Commons, located at 1005 Grant Street, Buffalo, NY, has 64 independent-living apartment units and is funded under the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, Section 202 for Housing of the Elderly.

One of the core values of the YWCA of Western New York is collaboration. We partner closely with community organizations to enhance community participation, streamline services, and expand our support network.

Our case managers provide intake assessments, connections to resources, assistance with obtaining and maintaining benefits, referrals to service providers, and daily life advocacy. We work with our clients to assist them in creating and achieving their self-identified goals. In addition to case management, we have regular group activities that support our clients’ social and emotional well-being. Our holistic approach enhances quality of life, mitigates aging isolation, and advocates for self-sufficiency and independence.
